Instruction screens

An instruction screen is a page the participant reads before a block. It is not the block-instruction strip at the bottom of a trial.

Three kinds. Text — a paragraph. Keyed — a paragraph plus the left and right keys that will be in force. Mock item — a preview of a trial so the participant can see the layout before the clock starts.

Screens attached to a block run before that block’s trials, not after. The live administration order is: those screens, then the block, then the next block.

Continue is usually spacebar. The continue prompt is its own line. Do not hide the task in a paragraph the participant has to hunt for.
